The mood around Anfield might have lifted after that spirited showing against PSG, but one former Liverpool star isn't getting carried away ahead of Sunday's trip to Goodison.

Whilst the Reds showed genuine fight and character in Paris, bouncing back from Champions League elimination with dignity intact, the underlying concerns that have plagued this season haven't magically disappeared overnight.

The Merseyside derby has a habit of throwing form guides out the window. Everton might be struggling, but they'll fancy their chances with Liverpool's defensive frailties still painfully obvious. One decent performance doesn't cure months of systemic issues.

It's the classic Liverpool conundrum this season. Just when you think they've turned a corner, reality bites. The PSG display was encouraging, no doubt, but sustainability remains the question mark hanging over everything Slot is trying to build.

Sunday's derby will tell us more about where this team really stands than any European adventure ever could.
